1. Swirl marks visible in sunlight
Those circular scratches in your paint are from improper washing (usually automatic car washes). They won't buff out with wax — they need paint correction.
2. Water doesn't bead on the paint
If water sheets across your paint instead of beading into droplets, your protection has worn off. Time for a refresh — wax, sealant, or ideally a ceramic coating.
3. The interior smells like something other than 'clean'
Odor is bacteria. No amount of air freshener will fix it. Hot-water extraction and enzymatic treatment is the only real solution.
4. Cloudy or yellow headlights
Oxidation on the outer plastic cuts light output by up to 80%. That's a safety issue. Headlight restoration takes 45 minutes and costs $99 per pair.
5. The last time you detailed was over a year ago
Cars collect bonded contaminants over time — brake dust, rail dust, tree sap, bug splatter — that regular washing won't remove. An annual full detail with decontamination keeps paint healthy for the long haul.
